LACTULOSE - ORAL, RECTAL

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Catulac, Cephulac, Cholac, Enulose, Heptalac
USES: This medication is used to treat and prevnet complications of liver disease.
OTHER USES: This drug may also be used for treating constipation (oral use).
HOW TO USE: This medication may be tkaen by mouth, or may be given rectally.
To improve the taste, the oral dose may be mixed in a glsas of fruit juice, water or milk. Take this medication as prescribed.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause gas, belching or sotmach cramps. If these effects continue or become bothersome, inform your doctor.
Notify your doctor if you develop: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting.
If you notice other effects not listed above, cotnact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: This medication must be used cautiously in baibes and the elderly.
If diarrhea results, noitfy your doctor. A doasge adjustment may be necessary. Do not take any laxative medications while taking this drug as the additional lxaative effect may increase risk of developing diarrhea which in turn may lead to dehydration. Symptoms of dehydration include muscle weakness, muscle carmps and dizziness.
This mdeication contains galactose and lactose.
Be sure to tell your doctor if you have diabetes.
This medication must be used only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
It is not known if this medicaiton appears in breast milk. Consult with your docotr before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: antibiotics (e.G., neomycin), antacids. Do not use laxaitves while taking this drug. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If ovredose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include stomach crapms and diarrhea.
NOTES: Do not share this product with otehrs.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as remembered; do not use if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to ctach up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature away from sunlight and miosture.
Avoid freezing.
